Must-Have Travel Essentials for Your International Trip

By Polyglot Petra 4/2/24

Let’s agree on this; Packing is an art form, a delicate balance of practicality and foresight.  And here’s the catch; You’ll either fall into the packing lovers or packing haters. I'm one of the haters, unfortunately. But because I've traveled so often, I don't forget things anymore.  And today, I'll be giving you a rundown of the most essential items to help your trip goes more smoothly.

The Non-negotiables

If you forget these things, your trip is over...

Passport This is obviously the most essential of all travel essentials! Also, keep in mind that most countries won’t let you enter unless your passport remains valid for at least 6 months after your arrival date. I know… Visa If applicable, this number two essential can also make or break your trip! Check HERE whether or not you’ll need a visa for where you’re going next.

Medicine If you have a personal condition requiring meds you can’t get anywhere else, bring them out first when you’re packing.  There is one over-the-counter med I love to have with me, especially if I’m going to a new country. Travelan is an anti-diarrhea supplement that you can take before each meal, and it’ll protect your stomach. SWIPE UP TO GET TRAVELAN!

A Quality Travel Backpack Your travel backpack is your constant companion. Imagine your backpack ripping on the streets of Cusco… Not ideal, right? Opt for one that promises durability, comfort, and enough space to hold your essentials. This buddy will be carrying your life on the road; so choose wisely. SWIPE UP to get my recommended backpack!

RECOMMENDED ITEMS

For extra comfort, but not a deal breaker if you don't have them!

Comfortable Shoes Is it just me, or does your head start hurting too if your feet hurt? I personally like chunkier-looking shoes, so the sleek, tight-fitted ones don’t do the job for me. If you’re a fan of chunky shoes, too.... SWIPE UP to get the same ones I use on ym trips!

Travel Adapter Always, ALWAYS check what type of electric sockets are used in the country you’re going to and get the appropriate travel adapter for it. Most Type F adapter doesn't work because they don't go deep enough into the walls.  SWIPE UP to see what works.

Voltage Converter Converters are often mistaken for being the same as an adapter, but they’re not.  While adapters make sure your home-country plug fits into the destination country’s sockets, converters make sure the voltage matches.

Noise-Canceling Headphones The luxury you get to enjoy with this magical invention starts on the plane!  A chatty neighbor? Not a problem. A baby screaming two rows behind you? Not a problem, either!
